Spider-Man is a fictional character that appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 (Aug. 1962), and was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko.

Spider-Man has appeared in various media, including several animated and live-action television series, syndicated newspaper comic strips and a successful series of films starring actor Tobey Maguire as the character.
